How to Use This Site
Greater Knoxville Notes is organized like a well-kept notebook: topics in sections, guides that follow the same layout, and a checklist at the end of most pages. Here is how to find your way around without wasting time.

How the menu works
The menu at the top lists the main sections of the site, such as Tech, Home, DIY and Sports. Each section page shows its articles newest first. If an article fits two sections, such as a TV mounting guide that is both a home job and a DIY project, you will find it in both.
How a guide is laid out
- A short opening saying what the job is and who it suits.
- Safety and preparation, where relevant. Read this part even if you skim the rest.
- The steps, numbered in the order you will do them.
- A table comparing options, causes or methods.
- When to call a professional, for jobs that can outgrow a weekend.
- A checklist to run through at the end.
Three habits that help
- Read the whole guide before you start. Especially for DIY, it is better to discover step six before you have finished step two.
- Keep your manual nearby. Our guides are general; your device or fixture may have its own quirks, and the maker's instructions take priority.
- Follow the links at the end. Most guides point to one or two related pieces that cover the natural next job.
Things to know about the site
Reading is free, there are no accounts and nothing tracks you while you browse; the Privacy Notice has the details. Our rules for product suggestions are on Recommendation Rules, and the people behind the guides introduce themselves on The Notebook’s Purpose.
