Legal Terms
These terms apply to everyone who reads Greater Knoxville Notes. Reading on means you agree to them. They are written to be short and readable; if anything is unclear, ask us through the contact page.
1. What the site offers
Greater Knoxville Notes publishes general articles about home and DIY, technology at home, get-togethers, shopping, sports and hobbies. Reading is free and needs no account.
2. General information, not professional advice
Our articles are written for a general audience. They are not a substitute for advice from a qualified electrician, plumber, contractor, medical professional, lawyer or financial adviser who knows your situation. Homes, devices and local rules differ, and a step that suits one setup may not suit yours.
3. DIY at your own judgment
Several guides describe practical work: drilling into walls, adjusting plumbing parts, handling electrical equipment. Before starting any such task:
- read the manufacturer's instructions for your equipment, which take priority over our general steps;
- follow the safety notes, such as switching off power or water and checking walls for hidden cables and pipes;
- check local building codes and, if you rent, your lease;
- stop and call a professional if a job turns out to be beyond what you are comfortable with.
You carry out any project at your own risk and on your own judgment.
4. Accuracy
We take care to keep articles accurate and to fix mistakes quickly, as described in Our Corrections Promise. Still, information can become outdated, products change and errors can slip through. We cannot guarantee that every article is complete or current at the moment you read it.
5. Mentions of products and businesses
When an article names a product, service or business, that mention is information, not a guarantee. Prices, availability and terms are set by the business concerned. Our approach to such mentions is set out in Recommendation Rules.
6. Links to other websites
Certain guides contain links to sites we do not operate. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, their availability or their privacy practices.
7. Copyright
The text and design of this site belong to Greater Knoxville Notes unless stated otherwise. You are welcome to link to any article and to quote short passages with a link back to the source. Copying whole articles or republishing them elsewhere needs our written permission.
8. Fair use of the site
Please do not attempt to disrupt the site, scrape it at a rate that affects its availability or use it for anything unlawful.
9. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss or damage arising from the use of the site or from relying on its content. This clause does not reduce any responsibility that the law says cannot be reduced.
10. Privacy
How the site handles information is explained in the Privacy Notice.
11. Changes to these terms
These terms may be revised as the notebook evolves. Whatever text appears here on the day you visit is the version in force.
